an On Roots Retreat
While our retreats focus on morning practices, free time, nature, and recovery, this training week is designed to go deeper into the method behind our movement practice.
Expect daily training sessions, focused workshops, and practical exploration of yoga, calisthenics, strength, mobility, and nervous system regulation.
If our retreats are about experiencing the lifestyle, this intensive is about understanding the training.

Issy & Max
Issy Nadee
Issy is an E-RYT 500 yoga and movement teacher, international retreat leader, and teacher trainer. Her approach blends yoga, calisthenics, and mobility training, shaped by years of working with her own scoliosis and back pain.
She teaches movement as an evolving practice that prioritizes deep understanding over perfect positions. Her focus is on developing intelligent, open-minded practitioners who can adapt and think critically about their own bodies.
Through her retreats and trainings, Issy emphasizes strength, mobility, and real body awareness. She offers a thoughtful approach to movement that values exploration and individual context over rigid rules.
For Issy, yoga isn’t about perfecting poses but about deepening your connection to how your body moves and learns.
Maxime Ronse
Maxime combines over a decade of dedicated calisthenics practice with a strong background in coaching, anatomy, and mindful movement. As a certified personal trainer and advanced calisthenics trainer, he has years of experience teaching both individuals and groups, with a clear focus on intelligent strength, mobility, and sustainable practice. His teaching is known for making complex concepts practical, accessible, and directly applicable.
As a senior teacher at the On Roots Yoga School, Maxime leads advanced anatomy and applied movement within the 300 hour yoga teacher training. Having taught and hosted retreats and trainings internationally, he creates grounded, focused learning environments that emphasize resilience, body awareness, and long term progress rather than performance alone.

How is the weather like in June?
Mid-June in the Algarve is a fantastic time to visit! The weather is typically warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures averaging between 24°C and 28°C (75°F to 82°F). Nights are pleasantly cool, usually around 17°C (63°F), making it comfortable for sleeping.
It’s a perfect time for outdoor practice, especially in the cooler mornings. During the day when the temperatures rise we will continue our practice and movement workshops in the indoor climatised shala. Plus, the region is lush and vibrant, and the crowds are smaller compared to July and August.
If you love sunny days and mild evenings, mid-June is an ideal time to experience the Algarve!

What is the difference between a Yoga and Calisthenics Retreat and the 25 hour Yoga Movement Training Week?
Our Yoga and Calisthenics Retreats focus on experiencing the lifestyle, with morning practices, free time, nature, recovery, and space to unwind. The 25 hour Yoga Calisthenics Training Week is a more structured and educational experience, designed to go deeper into the method behind our movement practice through daily training sessions and focused workshops. While retreats emphasize restoration and enjoyment, the training week centers on learning, skill development, and building a strong foundation in yoga asana, calisthenics, strength, mobility, and breathwork, and includes a 25 hour certificate eligible for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours.
